Step 1 : Cut the chocolate sponge into 3 equal layers. Soak each layer with sugar syrup. |
Step 2 : Spread the whip topping evenly over the bottom layer. Arrange canned cherries (halved) and top on the whip topping. Repeat the process for the next layer. |
Step 3 : Place the topmost layer of the sponge. Spread remaining whip topping, on top and the sides of the whole cake. |
